STORM LAKE, Iowa - MLC returned all of its experience on defense. That experience was on full display as the Knights held Buena Vista to a scoreless draw on Tuesday afternoon.
Junior goalkeeper
Maria Vik made five saves, including several acrobatic stops to keep the Beavers off the board.
In front of her, the defense of
Ava Walz,
Ella Ristow,
Rachel McCaughna,
Julianna Koehler and
Kyah Rathje played physical defense, coach
Tyson Zarnstorff said.
"The defense was very stout today," Zarnstorff said. "They played extremely well."
Despite not dominating possession, the Knights were able to carve out several chances. They forced BVU goalkeeper Maia Jaroch into five saves.
"Offense created several great chances," Zarnstorff said. "Their keeper made some great one-on-one saves. We played hard in very tough conditions with the heat."
Sophomore
Anna Kramer and senior
Katie Schoeneck each recorded a pair of shots on target.
