NEW ULM, Minn. - It took
Jin Lee and the MLC men's soccer team just 15 seconds to score the first and only goal of the game on Saturday afternoon, notching the Knights' first conference win since 2024.
After a terrific run by
Abraham Schlomer, the ball was deflected into Lee's path. He cut inside onto hit right foot and curled the shot perfectly into the top right corner.
The Knights would go on to have several more clear chances, including in the 27th minute when
Gabriel Habeck's shot hit the left post, but stayed out. Northwestern outshot MLC 12-5 overall as well as 3-1 in shots on goal in the first half.
The trio of Habeck, Schlomer and
Joshua Krenke gave the Northwestern defense problems all afternoon. That group combined for seven of MLC's nine shots.
Northwestern finished with a 19-9 shot advantage and a 6-3 edge in shots on goal. MLC goalkeeper
Nicholas Russ made six saves, including an acrobatic diving save in the 34th minute to keep the Knights in front.
