NORTHFIELD, Minn. - MLC volleyball went winless at the St. Olaf-Carleton tournament on Saturday.
UW-Stout 3, MLC 0
The Knights started their day with a loss to the Blue Devils, 25-19, 25-20, 25-18.
MLC's best opportunity came in the second set, during which it led 19-18 before the Blue Devils closed the set on a 7-1 run. Stout then used a 7-0 run early in the third set to cruise to the sweep.
Greta Nolte and
Kenzie Loberger each had seven kills to lead the team. Loberger added four aces and 10 digs as well.
Hannah Rimpel, who returned from injury on Friday night, had a team-high three blocks.
Nebraska Wesleyan 3, MLC 0
The Knights lost to NWU 28-25, 25-16, 25-16.
MLC once again failed to close out a set down the stretch in the first. The Knights led 24-22, but were unable to make the set-winning play, losing in extra points. The momentum never returned in the second or third sets. NWU had a 5-0 stretch in the second set and a 4-0 spurt in the third, but remained in control in both sets.
Nolte led the team for the second-straight match with six kills.
Kiara Humann also had six.
Anna Kieselhorst and Loberger each had 16 digs.
Carleton 3, MLC 0
The Knights had their highest hitting percentage in the final match of the day, despite falling 25-19, 25-20, 25-16.
MLC fell behind early in the first and second sets. In the first, Carleton kept the Knights at arms-length. However, in the second set, MLC battled back and led late in the set, 18-17. Carleton rattled off an 8-2 run to come back and win it before a comfortable third-set win.
Nolte capped off her fantastic day with a team-high 13 kills (26 total on the day). Humann added seven. Rimpel made another two blocks (seven total on the day).
