RIPON, Wis. - The Knights were swept twice on Friday at the Ripon College Classic.
Ripon 3, MLC 0
Despite having leads late in both of the first two sets, MLC was unable to close either out in a sweep loss to Ripon at the Ripon College Classic on Friday afternoon.
The Knights led 23-19 as well as 25-24 in the first set before the Red Hawks came back to win it 27-25. They then led 21-20 in the second set, but were unable to close out the win. Ripon won the final set 25-20.
Kiara Humann led MLC with seven kills, while hitting .143. Freshman Hannah Rimpel led the team in in hitting percentage with a .188. Rimpel had five kills in her first college match.
Sophomore Greta Nolte added six kills while junior Hannah Rodmyre had five kills and one block.
Setters Kourtney Zech and Ella Walz each reached double-digit assists, for Zech had 12 and Walz had 10.
Freshman Kenzie Loberger had a team-high 15 digs to go with two aces and four kills.
Lakeland 3, MLC 0
MLC's offense could not overcome two poor sets in a sweep loss against Lakeland.
The Knights hit .100 in the first set and -.044 in the third set, leading to losses of 25-18 and 25-19, respectively.
In the second set, the Knights found a rhythm, hitting .233 and notching 13 kills. However, Lakeland was able to hit .245 and registered 19 kills in the same set and squeezed out the 25-23 win.
Elsa Brauer and Kiara Humann led MLC in kills and hitting. Each had six kills, Brauer hit .211 and Humann hit .176 in the match.
Greta Nolte had five kills and one-and-a-half blocks. Kenzie Loberger registered four kills and 10 a team-high 10 digs.
Setters Ella Walz and Kourtney Zech had 13 and 12 assists, respectively.
