NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team lost its regular season and home finale 3-0 against Northwestern Friday by the scores of 25-15, 25-9 and 25-18.
The Knights scrapped in the first set against the first-place Eagles, with
Emily Neeb diving all over the court on the way to 11 first digs in that game alone, but the Eagles were able to pull away late to take an early lead.
The Eagles would control things from that point, hitting .478 on the way to a second-set win, and then closing out the match with a 25-18 third-set win.
Neeb finished the match with 17 digs to lead the Knights.
Taylor Weber added 16 of her own.
Kira Grev led the Knights with seven kills, while
Moriah Hackbarth added five and finished with a team-high attack percentage of .286.
MLC finished the regular season 5-24 overall and 4-4 in UMAC play after the defeat. UNW improved to 24-8 on the season and 8-0 in conference play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Monday, November 2, when they travel to St. Scholastica for the UMAC Postseason Tournament play-in game. The Knights finished as the fifth seed, and will play at the fourth-seeded Saints to advance in the tournament. That match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
