MINNEAPOLIS - The Martin Luther College volleyball team won its match against North Central 3-1 on Wednesday by the scores of 25-22, 25-27, 25-14, 27-25.

The two teams went back and forth in the first set, but the Knights were strong on the attack with a .366 attack percentage and 20 kills in the game on the way to taking a 1-0 lead. Kira Grev led MLC with six kills in the set.

The Knights controlled the second set, as well, but struggled to put the Rams away. MLC led 23-18 late in the set, but the Rams tied the game 24-24, and then scored three of the final four points to tie the match 1-1.

After dominating the third set, MLC once again needed to hold off a late NCU rally in the fourth before winning the final two points to win the match.

MLC finished the match with a season-high 67 kills and an attack percentage of .281. Grev led the way with 20 kills, while Jade St. Germaine (15) and Rylee Weisensel (11) joined her in double figures in the match.

Setter Heidi Moldenhauer set a new career high with 59 assists, while Taylor Weber set a new career best with 20 digs.

The win was MLC Head Coach Rebecca Cox's 100th for her career with the Knights.

MLC improved to 4-16 overall and 3-1 in UMAC play with the win. NCU fell to 6-12 on the season and 0-4 in league play.

The Knights will return to action on Saturday, October 10, when they host St. Scholastica. That match is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
