NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team lost its match against Macalester 3-0 on Monday by the scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-23.
The Knights came back from an early deficit in the first game to pull within two points, but the Scots closed out the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Macalester controlled the second set, hitting .346 while the Knights struggled with nine attack errors of their own to give the Scots a 2-0 lead after two.
The third set went back and forth, and was tied 20-20 late in the set, but Macalester was able to come through on the big points late to clinch the win.
MLC finished the match with an attack percentage of .102, while Macalester hit .231.
Jade St. Germaine was the Knights' top hitter with ten kills and an attack percentage of .350.
Kira Grev also finished with ten kills.
Moriah Hackbarth had a strong match in the middle for MLC with seven kills and four blocks.
Rylee Weisensel also had four blocks.
Taylor Weber led MLC with 12 digs, while
Heidi Moldenhauer finished with a team-best 27 assists.
MLC fell to 1-13 in defeat, while Macalester improved to 11-2 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, September 25, when they travel to St. Catherine for a match scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
