SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team started conference play with a 3-0 defeat at UW-Superior by the scores of 25-18, 26-24 and 25-13.
After coming out of the gates slowly and losing the first set, the Knights battled back and forth with the Yellowjackets in the second, with UW-Superior finally coming out on top in that set with the final two points to take a 2-0 lead in the match.Â
MLC took a 10-8 lead early in the third set, but was unable to stop the Yellowjacket momentum the rest of the way.Â
Jade St. Germained finished with 12 kills, and hit .348 to lead MLC.
Kira Grev added 11 kills, while
Rylee Weisensel finished with three blocks and six kills.
Heidi Moldenhauer led MLC with 32 assists, while
Megan Lemke finished with a team-high 12 digs.
MLC fell to 1-15 overall and 0-1 in UMAC play in defeat, while UW-Superior improved to 10-6 on the seaosn and 1-0 in conference play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, September 29, when they host Bethany Lutheran in a conference match scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
