MORRIS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team lost for the second time in conference at Minnesota Morris by the final score of 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-20).
The Knights fell behind in each of the first two sets, and a late rally to close the second set was answered by UMM as the Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the match.Â
MLC started strong in the third set and led 14-11, but the Cougars were able to erase the deficit and end the match in three games.
The Knights hit .177 on the attack, but were unable to slow a Cougar attack that hit .280. UMM's Marissa Eckness finished with 20 kills to lead all players, and hit .372.
Jade St. Germaine was the MLC leader with six kills, followed by
Ruth Buchholz (five),
Jenna Miller and
Grace Schultz (four apiece). Buchholz also added a team-best five blocks.
Emily Neeb led the team with 11 digs.
MLC fell to 9-20 overall and 4-2 in UMAC play in defeat. UMM improved to 11-13 on the season and 5-0 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Wednesday, October 26, when they host Crown in the home finale.
