NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team stayed unbeaten in conference play with a 3-0 win over North Central on Wednesday by the scores of 32-30, 25-16 and 25-14.
The two teams battled back and forth in the first set, with players from both teams diving on the floor for every ball until the Knights finally came away with a 32-30 win to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
MLC would cruise from that point, building big leads in each of the final two sets and holding down the NCU attack on the way to the sweep.
The Knights hit .206 for the match, compared to .039 for the Rams.
Jade St. Germaine led all players with 15 kills and hit .333, while
Kira Grev and
Rylee Weisensel each added nine kills and hit at least .300.
Ruth Buchholz led the team with five blocks, while St. Germaine also finished with three solo blocks.
Emily Neeb led the team with 18 digs.
Heidi Moldenhauer finished with a team-best 21 assists.
The Knights improved to 9-12 overall and 4-0 in UMAC play with the win. NCU fell to 7-11 overall and 1-3 in league play in defeat.
MLC will return to action on Saturday, October 8, when it travels to St. Scholastica in a match scheduled to start at 1 p.m. The Knights will also face Hamline that day at CSS as part of a triangular, with that match scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
