Baseball Loses Two at Northland

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ASHLAND, Wis. - The Martin Luther College baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader at Northland on Saturday by the scores of 14-8 and 14-4.

GAME 1

The Knights were unable to slow down the Northland bats in a 14-8 loss in the opener. 

The Lumberjacks started their offensive onslaught early, scoring nine times in the first four innings off MLC starting pitcher Jonathan Kock to build a big lead early.

Jason Lindemann hit his third home run of the season in the third inning, and the Knights started a rally by batting around in the sixth inning, scoring six times in the frame, but the Lumberjacks would add five runs in the seventh and eighth innings to secure the win.

Kock fell to 1-6 on the season with the loss.

GAME 2

Northland continued its strong offensive play in a 14-4 win in game two to earn the sweep.

The Lumberjacks scored twice in the first inning, and then five times in both the fourth and sixth frames to build a commanding lead before ending the game with a pair of runs in the seventh inning.

James Hemmelman started the game for MLC and took the loss, falling to 0-3 on the season.

Hemmelman helped his cause at the plate, scoring a team-best two runs.

MLC fell to 2-16 overall and 0-6 in UMAC play with the two defeats. Northland improved its record to 10-12 on the season and 4-1 in league play with the sweep.

The Knights will return to action on Monday, April 18, when they play a doubleheader against Gustavus. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
