NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team lost its match against Northwestern on Tuesday by the final of 9-0.
The Eagles jumped to a quick 3-0 lead, thanks to a sweep in doubles play by the scores of 8-0, 8-1 and 8-2.
In singles, UNW was able to take all six matches in straight sets.
MLC fell to 4-9 on the season and 4-4 in UMAC competition in defeat, while UNW improved its record to 20-5 overall and 7-1 in league play with the win.
The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference announced earlier in the day that MLC has already clinched a spot in the conference postseason tournament, which is scheduled to take place on May 6 and 7.Â
MLC will return to action tomorrow (Wednesday, April 27) when it travels to Bethany Lutheran for a match scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
