NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat St. Catherine 3-2 on Friday by the scores of 17-25, 24-26, 25-16, 27-25 and 15-10.
The Wildcats raced to an early 1-0 lead, and then finished off a close second set to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Knights rallied, hitting .341 to take the third set 25-16, and then held off a furious SCU rally late in the fourth set to force a fifth and deciding game.
In the final set, the Knights built an early 6-2 lead and never allowed the Wildcats back into the set as they completed the comeback.
Kira Grev finished with four kills on four attack attempts in the final set to lead the way.
MLC was strong on the attack all night, hitting .245 for the match compared to .194 for SCU.
Jade St. Germaine led the way with 19 kills and an attack percentage of .314, while Grev finished with 16 kills and hit .394.Â
Ruth Buchholz entered the match for the first time in the third set and provided a big lift in the third and fourth sets. She finished with six kills on her first six attack attempts, and also added five blocks (all of them in the fourth set).
Emily Neeb led the team with 22 digs, with Grev just behind her with 21 of her own to go with five blocks.

Heidi Moldenhauer finished with 27 and 23 assists, respectively.
The Knights improved to 5-11 on the season with the win. SCU fell to 8-7 in defeat.
MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, September 24), when it hosts UW-Superior in the first conference match of the season. That game was chosen as this week's UMAC Game of the Week, and will begin at 3 p.m.
