NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team followed Friday's win over Northland with a 75-70 win over Finlandia on Saturday.
The Knights never trailed in the game, building the lead as high as 23 points before the Lions made a game of it late in the fourth quarter.
MLC shot 44.7 percent from the field on the way to a 44-25 halftime lead, and still led by 12 points heading into the fourth quarter.
The Lions made things interesting late thanks to a 13 three-point field goals for the game, nine of which came in the second half, but the Knights were strong down the stretch to secure the win.
Jade St. Germaine led the Knights with 21 points and 14 rebounds, giving her five double-doubles this season. She teamed with
Faith Schroeder (11 points and nine rebounds) to help MLC to a 34-20 advantage in the paint and a 52-42 rebounding edge.
Mariah Schoof took care of things on the perimeter for MLC, scoring 19 points on 6-13 shooting from the field. She also led the team with four assists.
Grace Schultz added 12 points and eight rebounds for MLC.
The Knights improved to 4-9 on the season with the win, while FU fell to 3-8 in defeat.
MLC will return to action on Friday, January 13, when it travels to North Central for a game scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m.
