NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC women's soccer team will host Northland College in Monday's quarterfinal round of the UMAC Postseason Tournament.
The Knights made the tournament for the first time since the 2013 season thanks to a 7-4-1 record. The Lumberjills finished the UMAC season with a 5-4-3 record.
These two programs met twice this season, with the Jills getting the best of the match-up with a 1-0-1 record.
The two teams tied 0-0 after two overtimes in the first meeting in New Ulm on September 16 despite 41 combined shots and 20 combined shots on goal. The Knights recorded 25 of those shots and 16 shots on goal, but were unable to get anything past Northland keeper Megan Jordan. MLC keeper
Erin Feddersen stopped all four shots on net to earn her first career shutout.
Northland entered Saturday's (October 28) regular season finale in need of a win to reach the tournament and got the needed result with a 2-1 win over the Knights.
Lydia Bitter scored the scored the lone MLC goal early in the first half, but the Jills scored the game-winner in the 54th minute to set up the quarterfinal match-up.
MLC has relied on its defense throughout the season with eight shutouts (seven in UMAC play), and allowed only 10 goals in 12 UMACÂ contests.
The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.Â
