EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team lost both matches at the Blugold Invitational on Friday. The Knights lost the opener 3-0 to UW-Stevens Point (25-13, 25-18, 25-17) before losing the night cap to UW-Eau Claire 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-14).
UWSP 3, MLC 0
The Knights lost the opener of the tournament 3-0 to UW-Stevens Point by the scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-17.
The Knights hit .044 on the attack compared to .278 for UWSP, which was ranked last week in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) top 25.
Jade St. Germaine led MLC with nine kills, while
Grace Schultz added five of her own.
Taylor Weber led the team with 14 digs.
Ruth Buchholz finished with a team-high four blocks
UWEC 3, MLC 0
MLC was unable to overtake the host Blugolds in the second match in a 3-0 loss by the scores of 25-17, 25-23 and 25-14.
St. Germaine once again led MLC with eight kills.
Kira Grev and Schultz each finished with five kills for the Knights, who hit .092 for the match.
Buchholz recorded six blocks to lead the Knights, while Weber led the team with eight digs.
MLC fell to 12-11 on the season with the two defeats. UWSPÂ improved to 20-6, while UWECÂ moved to 10-6.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, October 10, when they travel to Crown College for a match scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
