NEW ULM, Minn - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team was unable to overcome its own miscues in a 67-60 loss to Northwestern (Minn.) on Friday.

The Knights outrebounded the Eagles 55-39 and outscored them from beyond the arc 18-12, but UNW turned 25 MLC turnovers into 25 points on the other end to make up the difference. 

MLC trailed by five after one quarter, but cut the deficit to one point at 31-30 at the half.

The Eagles turned up the defensive pressure in the second half, holding MLC to 32.4 percent from the field and forcing 14 turnovers as they pulled away and got the win.

Mariah Schoof led MLC with 14 points and added 12 rebounds and five assists. With four three-point field goals, Schoof set a new MLC career record for three-point field goals with 159 for her career.

Jade St. Germaine was held to eight points, but grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds. Grace Schultz scored nine points and dished out six assists, while Faith Schroeder finished with ten points.

MLC fell to 9-15 on the season and 7-8 in UMAC play in defeat. UNW improved its record to 16-8 overall and 11-4 in league play with the win.

The Knights will close the regular season with a game tomorrow (Saturday, February 18) against North Central. Tip off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
