Knights Fall at First Place Yellowjackets

SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team lost its game at first place UW-Superior on Friday by the score of 84-55.

The Yellowjackets entered the game unbeaten in UMAC play, and then showcased why in the first half as they built a 45-29 lead after two quarters. UWS shot 52.9 percent from the field and made five of nine attempts from beyond the three-point arc in the first two quarters, and also held the Knights to 40.0 percent on the other end.

The Knights battled in the third quarter, but were unable to make a dent into the halftime deficit before UWS put the game away in the fourth quarter. 

MLC finished the game shooting 35.7 percent. The Yellowjackets also forced the Knights into 33 turnovers and outscored MLC 33-8 in points off turnovers.

Grace Schultz led MLC with 14 points, while Jade St. Germaine added 11 points to go with her team-best seven rebounds. 

The Knights fell to 7-13 on the season and 5-7 in UMAC play in defeat. UWS improved to 17-4 overall and 12-0 in conference play with the win.

MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, February 4) when it travels to St. Scholastica for a game scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
