NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team was unable to slow down the UW-Superior attack in a 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-22) loss on Saturday.
The Yellowjackets were on the attack from the start, hitting .414 in the first set and .333 in the second to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Knights battled back from a big early deficit in the third set to cut the UWS lead to 20-18, but the Yellowjackets hung on to secure the win.
MLC struggled to receive serves as UWS recorded 11 aces on the day. MLC countered with four service aces, with
Camryn Biebert leading the team with two.
Ruth Buchholz led MLC in both kills (eight) and blocks (three).
Jewel St. Germaine led the Knights in digs (nine) and assists (eight).
MLC fell to 6-20 on the season and 6-6 in UMAC play in defeat. UWS improved to 17-9 overall and 11-1 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, October 16, when they travel to Minnesota Morris for a match scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
