ST. PAUL - The Martin Luther College volleyball team lost 3-0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-15) at Macalester on Wednesday.
The Scots jumped to a big start to open the match, and then held off the Knights in a back-and-forth second set to take a 2-0 lead in the match before finishing the sweep in the third and final set.
Jewel St. Germaine led MLC with 16 assists and added eight digs, while
Ruth Buchholz was the Knights' top hitter with nine kills (.273 attack efficiency) to go with three blocks.
Katelyn Aswege finished with a team-high 10 digs.
Kaylie Solomon recorded three kills and a pair of blocks.
MLC fell to 5-16 on the season in defeat. Macalester improved to 8-11 with the win.
The Knights will return to action Saturday, October 6, for a pair of matches at Hamline. MLC will open the day with a match against UW-River Falls at 1 p.m., followed by a match against the host Pipers at 5 p.m.
