ST. PAUL - The Martin Luther Colllege volleyball team lost both matches at Hamline University on Saturday. The Knights lost 3-0 (25-11, 25-6, 25-18) against UW-River Falls before losing 3-1 (23-25, 25-13, 25-16, 25-16) against Hamline.
UWRFÂ 3, MLC 0Â (25-11, 25-6, 25-18)
The Knights lost the opener to UW-River Falls in three sets.
MLC was unable to slow down the Falcons on the attack as UWRF hit .469 for the match.Â
The Knights struggled on the attack in the match, hitting -.024.
Ruth Buchholz led the the team with four kills, while
Kati Aguilar and
Kaylie Solomon added three kills apiece.
Camryn Biebert led MLC with 10 assists, while
Katelyn Aswege recorded a team-high 12 digs.
HU 3, MLC 1 (23-25, 25-13, 25-16, 25-16)
MLC started strong, but lost the second match in four games to Hamline.
The Knights hit .303 in the first set on the way to taking a 1-0 lead in the match, but the Pipers came back to win the final three sets to win the match.
Buchholz once again led the MLC attack with 11 kills and an attack percentage of .423 for the match to go with four blocks.
Sydney Peterson led the team with 12 kills, while
Kati Aguilar added 11 kills. Aswege recorded 16 digs, while
Jewel St. Germaine led the Knights with 31 assists.
MLC fell to 5-18 on the season in defeat, and will return to action on Wednesday, October 10, when it hosts Crown College in a match scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
