NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team won its home finale by the score of 70-62 against Crown College on Wednesday.
The Knights started four seniors playing at home for the final time in their careers, and all four players contributed to the win.
Jade St. Germaine led MLC with 21 points and added eight rebounds, five assists, three blocks and five steals.
Grace Schultz scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half, helping the Knights erase a two-point halftime deficit, and was also stuffed the stat sheet with eight steals, eight rebounds and six assists.Â
Hailey Johnson and
Crystal Carmichael combined to score only four points, but Johnson added eight rebounds, while both players played a key role in holding the Storm to 42.9 percent shooting from the field and forcing 25 Crown turnovers for the game.
First-year wing
Emily Witkowski also got into the act, scoring 17 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
MLC improved to 6-18 on the season and 4-11 in UMAC play with the win. Crown fell to 10-14 overall and 5-10 in league play.
The Knights will play their season finale at Northwestern (Minn.) on Saturday, February 17. Tip off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
