NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team lost its first home match of the season 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-20) against Buena Vista on Tuesday.
The Knights had trouble slowing down the BVU attack early, as the Beavers hit .333 and .314 in the first two sets on the way to a commanding 2-0 lead.
In the third set, the two teams went back and forth, with the Knights within one point at 19-18 late in the set until the Beavers were able to close the match with a 6-2 run.
Ruth Buchholz continued her strong start the season with a team-high eight kills and an attack efficiency of .421 for the match.
Kati Aguilar added seven kills, while
Alyssa Heckendorf hit .286 with five kills.
Jewel St. Germaine led the team with 14 assists to go with nine digs.
Katelyn Aswege led the team with 14 digs.
Camryn Biebert recorded two aces.Â
MLC fell to 0-5 on the season in defeat. BVU improved to 2-3 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, September 7, when they open a tournament at UW-Oshkosh. The Knights will face Wisconsin Lutheran College at 3:30 p.m., followed by a match against UW-Stout at 5:30 p.m.
