UWS Tops Knights

SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team was unable to slow down first-place UW-Superior in an 89-30 loss on Saturday.

The Yellowjackets' defense was too much for the Knights to handle throughout the day, holding MLC to 21.6 percent shooting from the field and forcing 31 MLC turnovers.

UWS took advantage of those MLC miscues, turning those turnovers into 44 points on the other end. The Yellowjackets also lived in the paint offensively, outscoring the Knights 49-12 inside for the game.

Hannah Norlin led five UWS players in double figures with 19 points and added a game-high nine rebounds (five on the offensive end).

Emily Witkowski led MLC with 11 points, while Samantha Paul finisehd with a team-best five rebounds.

MLC fell to 1-18 on the season and 1-10 in UMAC play in defeat. UWS improved to 18-2 overall and 10-1 in conference with the win.

The Knights will return to action on Wednesday, January 30, when they travel to North Central for a game scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m.
