NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team lost 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-12) to Bethany Lutheran College on Tuesday.
The Knights started strong and held a 22-18 lead late in the first set, but BLC rallied to to tie the set 22-22 and eventually take a 1-0 lead in the match.
That defeat was tough for the Knights to overcome, as the Vikings scored five of the final seven points to take the second set, and then ran away with the third set thanks to an attack efficiency of .462.
The Vikings hit .292 for the match and also gave the MLC hitters trouble throughout the match with 10 blocks. MLC finished with an attack efficiency of .083 and five blocks.
Kaylie Solomon and
Rhianna Hunter were the most efficient MLC hitters on the night with five and three kills, respectively.
Kate Aswege led the team with 10 digs, while
Hannah Willems recorded a team-high three blocks.
MLC fell to 3-16 on the season and 1-2 in league play in defeat. BLC improved to 8-13 overall and 2-2 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, October 12, when they host St. Scholastica in a match scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
