CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team lost 87-46 at Coe College in its second game of the opening weekend on Saturday.
The Kohawks took control from the start, outscoring the Knights 27-10 in the first quarter and never let up the rest of the way en route to the win.
MLC held Coe to 37.5 percent shooting from the field, but the Kohawks dominated the boards with a 50-32 edge thanks to 25 offensive rebounds that led to 21 second-chance points. The Kohawks also outscored the Knights 44-18 in the paint in the game.
The Knights started well from beyond the three-point arc in Friday's game at Carleton, but struggled to a 3-20 shooting night from distance on Saturday.
Emily Witkowski was the lone MLC player in double figures with 12 points, and also led the team with seven rebounds.
Samantha Paul added seven points and six rebounds, while
Madylin Mielke finished with six points off the bench for the Knights.
MLC fell to 0-2 on the season in defeat, while Coe improved to 1-0 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, November 12, when they host Viterbo in the team's home opener. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
