STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Martin Luther College volleyball team lost a hard-fought match at Buena Vista 3-0 on Tuesday by the scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 26-24.
After dropping the first set, the Knights rallied from early deficits in the second and third games to have a chance to win each game, but the Beavers were able to shut the door both times to secure the three-set sweep.
MLC recorded 35 kills in the three games and hit .106 for the match.
Kati Aguilar led the way with nine kills, while
Hannah Willems added eight kills.
Alyssa Heckendorf led the team with a .286 attack percentage.Â
Jewel St. Germaine paced the Knights with 22 assists, and
Kate Aswege led the team with 15 digs. Heckendorf finished with a team-best three blocks, including one solo block.
MLC fell to 1-8 on the season in defeat, while BVU improved to 2-5 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, September 13, when they travel to UW-Eau Claire for a one-day tournament. MLC will face Lakeland at 3 p.m., followed by a match against Linfield at 5 p.m.
