EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team lost both its matches at the Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament hosted by UW-Eau Claire on Friday. The Knights lost 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-20) to Lakeland to start the tournament, and followed that with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-19) defeat to Linfield in the night cap.
Lakeland 3, MLC 0
Lakeland handed the Knights a 3-0 defeat to open the tournament Friday afternoon.
The Knights hung tough in each set, but were unable to get over the hump as they were held to 20 points in all three games.Â
Kati Aguilar led the MLC attack with nine kills, while
Hannah Willems added five kills without an error for a .625 attack efficiency.Â
Kate Aswege led the Knights with 15 digs.
Jewel St. Germaine recorded a team-best 16 assists.
Linfield 3, MLC 0
The Knights were unable to get on track in the second match as Linfield dealt them their second three-set defeat of the day.
MLC was unable to slow down a Linfield attack that finished with a .220 attack efficiency with 32 kills and only seven errors in the match.
Aguilar led all MLC hitters with four kills, while Aswege once again led in digs with 14 for the match.
MLC fell to 1-10 on the season following the two defeats. The Knights will return to action on Monday, September 16, when they host Crown College in a non-conference match. That match will start at 7 p.m.
