NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team defeated Crown College 3-1 (25-18, 25-15, 25-27, 25-19) in Monday's home opener in the LSC gymnasium.
The Knights cruised to win the first two sets by the scores of 25-18 and 25-15, but the Storm hung tough to avoid the sweep. In the fourth set, junior
Kati Aguilar led the MLC charge with four kills to help the Knights secure the win.
MLC hit .147 on the attack and finished with 48 total kills, its second-highest total so far this season. Aguilar led the way with 13 total kills, while
Rhianna Hunter recorded a career-high six kills.Â
Camryn Biebert and
Hannah Willems also set new career highs on the night. Biebert recorded 25 assists, while Willems finished with seven blocks (including two solo blocks).
Kate Aswege finished with a season-high 23 digs to lead all players.
MLC improved to 2-10 following the non-conference win, while Crown fell to 2-7 this season in defeat.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, September 20, when they travel to Bethany Lutheran for a non-conference match scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
