SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Martin Luther College men's basketball team lost 83-59 at UW-Superior on Saturday.
The Knights shot 50.9 percent from the field for the game, but fell short in several key statistics in defeat.Â
UWS shot 8-19 from beyond the three-point arc and outscored MLC 24-3 from downtown for the game. The Yellowjackets also outscored the Knights 13-4 from the free throw line, and took advantage of 19 MLC turnovers by scoring 21 points off those miscues on the other end.Â
The Yellowjackets built a 40-27 halftime edge, and held that lead the rest of the way. MLC made several second-half runs and cut the deficit to 10 points (65-55) with 5:38 to play, but UWS closed the game on an 18-4 run to secure the win.
Ethan Eisenmann paced MLC with 17 points on 8-9 shooting.
Ian Paulsen added 15 points, while
Austin DeNoyer and
Jack Heichelbech scored nine and eight points, respectively.
MLC fell to 5-18 on the season and 2-13 in UMACÂ play in defeat. UWS improved to 16-7 overall and 13-1 in league play with the win.
The Knights will close the conference season when they travel to Minnesota Morris on Wednesday, February 19. That game is scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m.
