Ian Paulsen Scores 1,000th Career Point

ST. PAUL - Martin Luther College senior men's basketball player Ian Paulsen became the 12th player in program history to score at least 1,000 career points in Saturday's game at Northwestern-St. Paul.

Paulsen entered the game with 988 points for his career, and finished Saturday's 101-79 defeat with 18 points to go over the milestone.

Paulsen is tied for the team lead this season with an average of 11.3 points per game. He also leads the Knights in rebounds (6.6), assists (3.1), blocks (1.5) and steals (1.5) per game this season.

During his four-year career, Paulsen has led the Knights in points, rebounds, steals and blocks per game every season, and has led the team in assists per game each of the last three seasons.

With four more games left on the schedule, Paulsen has other opportunities to put his name in the MLC record books. He currently ranks second all time with 146 career blocks, just two shy of Tom Engelbrecht's (2000-03) record of 148. He also ranks third in career rebounds (584), sixth in career field goals (432) and sixth in career steals (130) in program history.

Paulsen and his three senior classmates will play at home for the final time on Wednesday, February 12, when the Knights host North Central in a game scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m.
