ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team won a tough first set, and then breezed through the next two games on the way to a 3-0 (27-25, 25-11, 25-15) sweep at Crown College on Friday.
The Storm battled the Knights to open the match as the two teams went back and forth, but MLC finally broke through with a
Kelsey Birschbach kill to end the first set 27-25.
The Knights never gave up control from that point, winning the second set 25-11, and then never trailing on the way to a 25-15 third-set win to complete the sweep.
Birschbach was dominant on the attack, finishing with a match-high 16 kills and a .412 attack efficiency. She recorded at least five kills in all three sets.

Kate Aswege led all players with 21 digs, while
Kylie Wolf was strong with her serve on the way to four service aces.
The Knights improved to 9-12 on the season and 8-3 in UMAC play with the win. Crown fell to 1-16 overall and 0-11 in league play in defeat.
MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, October 23) when it travels to Minnesota Morris. The Knights will play UMM at 12:00 p.m., followed by a non-conference match against UW-Stout at 2:00 p.m.
