ST. PAUL - The Martin Luther College volleyball team was unable to slow UMAC-leading University of Northwestern-St. Paul (UNW) in a 3-0 (25-6, 25-15, 25-11) defeat on Saturday.
The Eagles came into the match atop the conference standings with an unbeaten league record and showed their quality from start to finish.
UNW finished the match with an attack efficiency of .347, recording 35 kills against only nine errors.
The Knights' attack struggled on the other end as 10 UNW blocks helped keep MLC to only 13 kills for the match.
McKenzie McIntyre was the Knights' most efficient hitter with four kills and an attack efficiency of .333.
Kelsey Birschbach led the team with five total kills.
MLC fell to 3-5 on the season and 1-5 in UMAC play in defeat. UNW improved to 21-2 overall and 7-0 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Thursday, April 1, when they host Crown College in a match scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
