Martin Luther College women's soccer team gained the number five spot in the UMAC preseason poll. The Knights went 4-9-1 a year ago and 5-12-1 overall. Head coach Jeff Schone, now in his 13th season at the helm, looks forward to blending his promising new comers with his veteran-heavy team. The Knights return eight starters from last season, including seven seniors to help lead the way for the Knights. Hannah Schroeder, who finished last season as a Second Team All-UMAC selection, is returning this season for the Knights. She finished with five goals and two assists last season. Nicole Porter and Lilianne Zimpelmann are also returning this season after being named All-UMAC Honorable Mentions last year.

UW-Superior is again picked to win the UMAC. Also picked ahead of the Knights were Northwestern, Bethany, and UM-Morris. Crown, Northland, and North Central fill out the bottom part of the poll.

The Knights open their season on Saturday, September 3, at Maranatha Baptist University, in Watertown, WI, at 2 p.m. The Knights return to host Viterbo on Monday, September 5, in a 4 p.m. matchup.
