The Martin Luther College Knights defeated the Carleton Knights of Northfield, Minnesota, in five sets (25-20, 28-30, 13-25, 25-21, 15-12).
The Knights did not start off with a strong hold on Carleton for the first half of the first set. Facing an eight point gap, Martin Luther College came back with eight points in a span of nine volleys. The Knights powered through and fought back to win with a comfortable gap of 25-20.
The Carleton Knights came back in the next two sets with fire. Both sides battled hard in the second set, taking the set into extra points. Winning by two, Carleton came on top with a score of 30-28. Carleton kept that lead for another set with an even harder grip on Martin Luther College. The Carleton Knights took that set with an easy score of 25-13.
However, the Knights did not give up and pushed forward for another set, determined to win the set. With a 66% hitting average, the Knights came down hard on Carleton. MLC won the fourth set with a score of 25-21.
In the final match, both teams gave their all, the MLC Knights were victorious and won the match. With only needing fifteen points to win, twelve of those points were kills. The MLC Knights won 15-12.Â
The leaders of the game with kills was Grace Kieselhorst with 15 kills, Kylie Wolf with 35 assists, and Lauren Paulsen with 16 digs.
The Knights will next go up against Buena Vista in Storm Lake, Iowa at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
