New Ulm, MN - The Knights entered the game against the UM-Morris Cougars without three key starters in
Emma Nelson,
Lydia Feidt, and
Lauren Paulsen. The Knights would have to make due with their shorthanded team, but UM-Morris had other plans as they marched on to beat the Knights
72-33.
From the opening tip, UM-Morris imposed their will near the basket and used their height and size to their advantage, outscoring MLC 40-16 in the paint. The Cougars also utilized their depth and rotated fresh bodies to keep MLC on their toes.  The Knights appeared rattled from the very beginning and had 22 turnovers, resulting in many easy scoring opportunities for UM-Morris. The Knights were held to a season-low 33 points on the game, as UM-Morris' size created issues in the passing lanes and for MLC to get a shot off.
UM-Morris was led by Malory Anderson who finished the game with 11 points, six assists, and five steals. The guard seemed to do it all for her team and was instrumental towards their big win over MLC.
Jordyn Heckendorf led MLC in scoring with 7 points on 3-of-8 shooting.
MLC falls to (7-10, 1-6) on the season and will travel to Maranatha Baptist on Tuesday, January 24th at 4 p.m.
