Northfield, MN - The 2025 Indoor Track season officially started today for the MLC men's and women's teams at the Ole Opener hosted by St. Olaf. The Knights had multiple individual performances with notable finishes including three first-place results. Two of those came from
Samuel Plocher, who picked up where he left off last season. Plocher earned first in the high jump (1.95 meters), clearing the next highest jumper (1.85 meters). The sophomore also claimed first place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.58 seconds. Meanwhile,
Jeremiah Stanton took first in the triple jump after his jump of 13.36 meters.
Other top spots in the field events came from
Isaiah Durkee and
Robert Perry in the shot put. Durkee debuted with a third-place finish (13.37 meters) and Perry earned fourth (13.28 meters).
Daniel Ertmann began his collegiate track career with a nice showing in the 400-meter run (52.57 seconds), placing in second.
Stephen Wietzke placed third in the 200-meter dash, coming in third out of nearly 40 runners in the event, with a mark of 23.45 seconds.
Lucas Holtz followed close behind for fifth place (23.55 seconds).
Micah Schibbelhut took fifth in the 800-meter run (2:04.51).
For the MLC women,
Jemimah Habben had the highest finish with her effort in the 1-mile run (5:26.84) which put her in second.
Naomi Foley had a nice performance in the 400-meter run with a mark of 1:05.77.
Two MLC throwers had top-10 finishes in the weight throw out of 22 throwers as
Madelinn Romsdahl earned fifth after she threw 12.17 meters, while
Elise Nolte placed seventh (11.91 meters).
MLC track and field will participate in another meet at St. Olaf College next weekend (January 24 & January 25).
