St. Peter, MN - The MLC men's track and field team competed in the Gustie Twilight hosted by Gustavus on Wednesday, and the Knights once again broke some school records throughout various events.
R.J. Perry broke two MLC records in the hammer throw and the shot put. The sophomore added some more distance this meet to his previous record-breaking throws, and on Wednesday, he heaved it 42.97 meters. Perry also threw the shot put 14.88 meters, which broke
Caleb Foelske's record of 14.48 meters set in 2022.
The 4x100m and 4x200m relay teams also set new record times in each race as the 4x100 relay took off a few tenths of a second from last week for a finish of 42.67 seconds.
Lucas Holtz, Matthew Hillmer, Arthur Robinson, and
Stephen Wietzke made up the relay squad and also took first in the event.
In the 4x200, the same four MLC runners broke last year's record of 1:30.80 with a new record of 1:29.75 seconds, which was good for second.
Other top performances came from
Samuel Plocher in the 400m hurdles, who claimed first in the event after a mark of 58.49 seconds. MLC also had three second-place finishes as
Daniel Reinke (13.44 m, shotput),
Stephen Wietzke, Holtz (22.99 seconds, 200-meter), and Robinson (50.55 seconds, 400-meter) earned their spots there.
Wietzke (11.12 seconds, 100-meter), Perry (Discus, 40.04 meters), and
Micah Schibbelhut (Javelin, 39.77 meters) placed third in events as well.
Jesus Medina (12.89 meters, shot put),
Eliott Heiderich (3000m, 9:21.03), and Robinson (Long jump, 6.24 meters) each finished in fourth.
MLC outdoor track and field will return next Wednesday, April 23, for a meet at the University of Minnesota at 11 a.m.
