Wietzke's 3 1st-Place Finishes Leads to UMAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week Honors

St. Paul, MN - Stephen Wietzke was named UMAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week (April 21 - April 27) for the second time this season thanks to his performances at meets hosted by Minnesota and Gustavus this past week.

The highlight of his week was his day on the track at Gustavus on Saturday, April 26. There, Wietzke earned three first-place finishes in short distance events. In the 100m dash, Wietzke hit a PR time of 10.89 seconds for first, while clocking in at 21.82 seconds in the 200m dash, also placing him first.

The sophomore was also one of the legs of the 4x100m relay team, which claimed first place with a time of 43.50 seconds.

Before Saturday's meet, Wietzke also competed at the Gary Wilson Invitational at Minnesota on Wednesday. He ran the 100m dash in 10.96 seconds against tough Division I and II competition, placing him 11th overall out of over 50 runners.

Wietzke and the MLC track and field teams will have one final meet this weekend, when they compete at the UMAC Outdoor Championships on Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3, at Minnesota Morris.
