Morris, MN -
Mya Morris and
Lauren Paulsen knocked down a couple of 3-pointers to start off the MLC women's basketball meeting at Minnesota Morris and the Knights would never trail in their
61-55 conference opening game.
MLC picked up their first UMAC win of the season and got back into the win column thanks to a 15-point performance from fifth-year player
Emma Dorn. The forward also collected six rebounds, while another senior in Paulsen put up 12 points, five boards, and two steals and blocks for the Knights.
Ava Stein also shined down low, finishing with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting.
The Cougars made a bit of a push in the fourth quarter, going on a 14-6 run to cut it to 53-49 with just under four minutes remaining. However, Dorn put a halt to things and hit a 3-pointer, and the Knights converted on their free-throw attempts to walk away with the win.
MLC improves to 7-4 overall, 1-0 UMAC and has an opportunity to go 2-0 in conference play when they head to Crown College on Saturday, January 11. The women will play at 4:45 p.m. following the men's game.
