Northfield, MN - The Martin Luther College Indoor Track and Field teams competed at the Meet of Hearts hosted by Carleton College on Saturday. The men had an impressive day of results and took
third out of seven UMAC and MIAC schools with 145 points which trailed only Gustavus (170.50) and Macalester (158). The MLC women's squad placed
fifth out of eight schools (41.20 points).

Notable MLC Men's results:
Arthur Robinson showcased his versatility by finishing in first place in the 55-meter dash (6.71 seconds). The freshman capped that effort off with a trio of 3rd place finishes in the 400-meter (52.47 seconds), the long jump (6.39 meters), and the triple jump (12.81 meters).
Samuel Plocher compiled two first-place results in the 55m hurdles, which the sophomore tied the previous record of 7.90 seconds set by
Jayson Diersen in 1997. Plocher then claimed first in the high jump (1.88 meters), while his brother,
Thomas Plocher, finished right behind him in second (1.83 meters).
R.J. Perry was the third MLC men's athlete to garner a first-place achievement and the thrower did so in the shot put after his top throw of 14.48 meters which set an indoor MLC record and tied the outdoor mark previously set by
Caleb Foelske in 2022. Perry also claimed sixth in the weight throw after he threw 12.15 meters.
There were also multiple second-place finishes for the MLC men as
Daniel Ertman earned it by running the 400-meter in 51.66 seconds, while
Stephen Wietzke got second in the 200-meter with a time of 23.23. The 4x200-meter relay team (
Xavier Foreman, Matthew Hillmer, Lucas Holtz, and Jeremiah Stanton) also placed second (1:34.21), which trailed Gustavus's time of 1:33.47.
Other top five spots claimed by the Knights included
Micah Schibbelhut's fourth-place result in the 800-meter (2:03.67) and a fifth-place finish by Wietzke in the 55-meter dash (6.82 seconds) and Holtz in the 200-meter (23.52 seconds). Meanwhile, Stanton claimed third in the 55-meter hurdles with a mark of 8.34 seconds, and
Daniel Reinke (4th, 12.15 meters) /
Isaiah Durkee (5th, 12.02 meters) rounded out the top five in the shot put.
Notable MLC Women's results:
Jemimah Habben had another strong performance in the 1-mile run, taking third in the event after clocking in with a time of 5:24.77. Meanwhile, her sister
Maya Habben came in seventh (5:51.67).
Ella Schlei had her best result of the season in the high jump with a mark of 1.43 meters which gave her a second-place tie in the event. Schlei also followed that up by going seventh in the shot put.
Elise Nolte placed fourth in both the shot put (11.09 meters) and weight throw (12.53 meters), while
Madelinn Romsdahl took fifth in the shot put (10.68 meters) and eighth in the weight throw (12.24 meters).
MLC Indoor Track and Field is back at it on Friday, February 14 at Minnesota State.
