Bethany Claims Wittenberg Cup Over MLC

New Ulm, MN - In an overcast and cloudy day, the MLC men's golf team took on the Bethany Lutheran Vikings in the annual Wittenberg Cup on Thursday. Both squads played at the New Ulm Country Club and put up some low scores in what was a Par 71, but the Vikings would edge out the Knights by 10 strokes, beating them 301 to 311.

Bethany's No. 1 player, Keaton Ginter, had the lowest individual score of 73, but MLC's No. 1 Ben Pearson, was just one stroke back of Ginter coming in a 2nd-place tie with a score of 74. Aidan Berg finished in 76 strokes, putting him in a 4th-place tie.

John Martin shot a 78, which was the next lowest total from the Knights, as the junior placed in a T-8th.

The Knights will be back on the green on Saturday, September 6, at 9:35 a.m. when they tee off for the Twin Ports Collegiate hosted by UW-Superior at the Nemadji Golf Course. MLC will take on other UMAC schools in the tournament that will conclude on Sunday.
