St. Paul, MN - The MLC men's basketball team played its third UMAC of the season and first one on the road at Northwestern tonight. The Knights trailed 40-27 at halftime and weren't able to close in on single digits against the Eagles, losing
87-65.
Japheth Nyamari led all scorers with 31 points making 5 made 3-pointers. The guard also recorded six rebounds and two blocks to pace the Eagles. Northwestern shot nearly 47 percent from the field and held MLC to 30 percent in the first half.
Benjamin Pearson led MLC with 19 points on 7-of-12 from the floor.
Ethan Kjenstad added 14 points, while
Adam Loberger almost recorded another double-double, scoring 12 points with nine boards.
Thomas Balge also earned double figures with 10 points. The senior grabbed five rebounds and led MLC with three assists.
3-point shooting played a big role in this one as Northwestern went 13-of-28 from deep (46.4 percent), while MLC shot 6-of-21 (28.6 percent).
MLC will look to bounce back with another road conference game at UW-Superior on Saturday, January 17, at 4:45 p.m.
