ST. PAUL, Minn. - Goalkeeper
Maria Vik has been named UMAC women's soccer defensive athlete of the week, the conference announced on Tuesday morning.
Vik was peppered with shots over two matches last week, making 21 saves. That included 11 saves during MLC's draw against regular-season champion UW-Superior on the final day of the regular season.
Vik made several acrobatic stops in the final 20 minutes to keep the Knights level with the Yellowjackets, helping to clinch a third-place finish in the UMAC.
The junior was second in the UMAC with 108 saves this season.
Vik joins teammates
Katie Schoeneck and
Anna Kramer as winners of the award this season. Both were offensive athletes of the week earlier this season.
