ST. PAUL - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team opened its season with an 8-1 loss at Macalester on Saturday.

Acacia Foss scored the lone point for MLC with win in number one singles. She won her match in straight sets 6-3 and 6-0.

Macalester won the other five singles matches, but Rachel Riediger took her number two singles match to a third set tiebreak before falling 6-1, 3-6 and 10-6.

The Scots also won the three doubles matches by the finals of 8-6, 8-1 and 8-5.

MLC will return to action on Saturday, February 13, when it plays Saint Benedict and Saint Mary's at Winona Tennis Center.
