RESULTSLAKEVILLE, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team lost its conference opening match at North Central 5-4 Thursday night at Lifetime Fitness Center.
The Rams opened the match by winning two of three in doubles competition. The MLC team of
Nicolas Gartner and
Ethan Schultz provided the one point for the Knights in number three doubles with an 8-6 win.
In singles, MLC needed to win four of six to earn the team win, but was only able to get three.
Justin Marshall won his number two singles match in straight sets 7-5, 6-3. Gartner and Schultz also won in number five and six singles in straight sets to earn the other two points.Â
MLC fell to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in UMAC play with the loss. NCU improved its record to 1-4 on the season, and 1-3 in conference play, with the win.
The Knights will return to action tomorrow (Friday, April 1), when they play St. Scholastica. That match was originally scheduled for Saturday, April 2, but was moved to Friday night at 7 p.m. at Gustavus due to weather.Â
