MORRIS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team defeated Minnesota Morris 6-3 on Wednesday.
The Knights were in a battle to start the match in doubles competition, but finished with a 3-0 sweep. The number three team of
Ethan Schultz and
Nicolas Gartner won their match 8-3. The numbers one (
Justin Marshall and
Justin Steinke) and two (
Philip Schroeder and
Josh Koelpin) both won their matches 9-7.
In singles, the Cougars won the numbers one, two and four matches, but Schroeder (5-7, 7-6, 1-0), Gartner (4-6, 6-4, 1-0) and Schultz (6-0, 6-0) won their matches to clinch the team win.
MLC improved its record to 2-11 overall and 2-4 in UMAC competition with the win. UMM fell to 0-9 on the season and 0-7 in league play in defeat.
The Knights will return to action tomorrow (Thursday, April 21) when they host Bethany Lutheran in a match scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
