MORRIS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team won its match at Minnesota Morris 6-3 on Wednesday.
The Knights lost their number one doubles match 8-4, but still came out of doubles play with a 2-1 lead thanks to an 8-6 win in number two doubles by the team of
Charis Goelzer and
Mateja Epple, and an 8-0 win by
Sophia Birner and
Elizabeth Broring in the number three match.
In singles, the Cougars won the top two matches in three sets against
Acacia Foss and
Rachel Riediger, but Goelzer, Broring,
Melissa Stibb and Birner each won their matches in straight sets to secure the win.
MLC improved its record to 3-8 overall, and evened its conference record at 3-3 with the win. UMM fell to 3-6 on the season and 3-4 in UMAC play in defeat.
The Knights will return to action tomorrow (Thursday, April 21) when they host Bethany Lutheran in a match scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
