Koelpin, Gartner Shine in Loss at Wartburg

RESULTS

WAVERLY, Iowa - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team lost at Wartburg 7-2 in a non-conference tennis match Tuesday at Hoover Field House.

The Knights fell behind quickly in the match, as Wartburg swept the three doubles matches by the scores of 8-0, 8-2 and 8-3.

In singles play, MLC recorded two points thanks to a pair of first-year players. Josh Koelpin won his number four singles match 7-6 and 6-2 to earn his first singles win of the season (and his career). Nicolas Gartner also won his number five singles match in straight sets (6-2, 6-2) to earn the other MLC point.

The Knights fell to 0-7 on the season in defeat, while Wartburg improved its record to 9-10 with the win.

MLC will return to action on Thursday, April 7, when it travels to Buena Vista for a match scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
