RESULTS

MANKATO, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team lost its match at Bethany Lutheran 8-1 on Monday.

The Knights were competitive in doubles, but BLC was able to earn the win in all three matches by the scores of 8-3, 8-5 and 8-5.

In singles, Josh Koelpin won MLC's lone point thanks to a 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9) win in his number four seeded match. The Vikings won the other five points, but Justin Steinke (number two) and Nicolas Gartner (number five) took their matches to a third set.

With the loss, MLC fell to 3-12 overall and 3-6 in UMAC play. BLC improved its record to 7-15 this season and 5-4 in conference play with the win. BLC also clinched the number three seed at this weekend's UMAC Championships with the win. MLC will be the four seed at the event, and needed to win both matches against BLC this week to jump into the number three seed.

These two teams will battle again tomorrow (Tuesday, May 3) when they play at MLC. Start time for that match is 3:30 p.m.
